I'm a stickler for the kids wearing helmets when they ride their bicycles. I've gotten on my wife many times about her not wearing a helmet. They may not be comfortable but they work and it's not worth the risk. I had a uncle who survived a nasty bicycle wreck a few years ago because he was wearing a helmet. He was on a road bike and hit a large pothole and was thrown over the handlebars. He was in the hosptial for 2-3 days and he had a concussion for 2-3 weeks.
