@jussipekonen yep, yay! We had been looking for land to build a house closer to family, and the land we bought met we wanted for land. Price, amount of land, and it's in the school district we wanted to get the kids into.
@matigo yep. After we closed on the land, my wife said, "Well, we own some dirt now." The land closing was simple, we did a cash offer on the land (so closing costs were very low) and there weren't any keys or anything to exchange.
@hazardwarning Arq and Amazon Drive is another option. I have a good friend who uses this setup and really likes it. I downloaded the free trial of Arq earlier this week and am planning to purchase a license once the trial runs out. Amazon Drive is $60/yr for unlimited storage.
Hello everybody. Haven't had much free time over the past few weeks. Between moving, closing on the house we sold, and closing on land that we purchased, and work, things have been very busy. We closed on the land on Tuesday, so now the real fun (and stress) of building begins. We're excited about it though. #nt
@whoisashygirl nice. Cable is so much better than DSL. When we build our house and move in, we're probably going to get a 200mbps connection. SuddenLink's slower speed tiers have data caps (according to their site, they're 250-350 GB depending on speed) and we use 500+ GB a month. We watch a lot of Netflix and Sling TV between my wife and I and our kids.
Well, we closed on our house on Monday.
We met with our builder at the land yesterday and it went well. We talked about some changes he thought should be made to our floor plan and elevations, as well as switching the garage to the opposite side of the house to better suit the lot. We like the changes he suggested, so we're waiting for the drafter to draw them up. We close on the land April 4th.

@jws haha. We're happy with the plans so far. We are changing the back porch to a screen porch
