Thoughts Aloft

A couple go for a meal at a Chinese restaurant and order the "Chicken
Surprise." The waiter brings the meal, served in a lidded cast iron pot.
Just as the wife is about to serve herself, the lid of the pot rises
slightly and she briefly sees two beady little eyes looking around before
the lid slams back down.

"Good grief, did you see that?" she asks her husband.

He hasn't, so she asks him to look in the pot. He reaches for it and again the lid rises, and he sees two little eyes looking around before it slams down.

Rather perturbed, he calls the waiter over, explains what is happening, and demands an explanation.

"Please sir," says the waiter, "what you order?"

The husband replies, "Chicken Surprise."

"Ah… so sorry," says the waiter, "I bring you Peeking Duck."

@kdfrawg The sun is finally starting to break through the clouds here. The temp has been warmer than average which has been a nice change from the brutal cold I flew in last week. I will be packing my work sweater and a pair of longjohns this week because a blazer and overcoat are only so-effective when it's 12°F with a -3° windchill. I joked with the captain that since I'm packing them, I will probably stay in Florida all week.

Somewhere in the galaxy, a Wookie lets out an anguished roar.

@matigo We could get a well put in. The trailer that was on the adjacent property had a well, because you can still the pump and the pump house.

There are pros and cons to having a well. Cons are the high cost of digging the well, and no running water if power is lost (without a generator). The biggest pro is that is a one-time cost, so no monthly water bill.
