@kdfrawg he is
@kdfrawg it's got a lot of potential. My uncle met us there yesterday and looked at and helped us picture things a little bit more and answered some questions we had. He is a carpenter and has done a lot of general contracting type work and currently works for a modular home company and does site prep and oversees the work at the site, so we knew he would be able to answer a lot of questions.
@kdfrawg it would be about 10.5 total. It's a 21 acre plot that the owner is planning on splitting into two lots. He bought it from a farmer who was hurting for money and is letting the farmer farm it free of charge this year. Here's an overheard view from Apple Maps. The red is the rough outline of the whole 21 acres and the blue line is how the gentleman is planning on splitting it and we want the area to the left of the blue line.
We went and looked at the land this weekend and we really, really like it. It has a lot of potential. There are power lines run out there so the cost would be minimal to run power to wherever the house would be. Running the water lines could be fairly expensive, depending on where we have to run them from. If we have to run them from the main road, it would be costly but we think there is a municipal water line that is on the property behind the one we're looking at and if we could tap into that one, the cost to run the line would be a lot less (200-300 feet of water line vs 1,500-2,000 of water line if we had to run it from the road.)
I'm waiting to hear back from the owner of the land and we're hoping we can agree on a price this week. #nt
@phoneboy The majority of my messaging is through iMessage/Messages.
On a side note, the Signal desktop app is pretty nice
// @thrrgilag @larand @literary
@phoneboy I've been using Signal a little bit more recently. I rarely use WhatsApp, but I like the fact that they are using end-to-end encryption as a default (using Signal Protocol for encryption.)

@kdfrawg it is. I don't think I've heard an airport train announcement in the US im something other than English or Spanish.

@kdfrawg Small world story. I was at a Starbucks in Raleigh this evening and a guy in line asked me the best way to get to PNC Arena from where we were. I told him what I thought was best but that I also wasn't that familiar with that part of Raleigh. Turns out he lives in Greenville which is where I'm from and where we're moving back to and he owns some woodland down the road from the land we're looking at.
@kdfrawg The more Kellan and I think about, the more advantages we see to putting some money down on the land now, paying the rest off in April or May and rolling the full equity from the land to the loan for the house.
