@kdfrawg We are too. It has a lot of possibilities. If he would let us put 5,000 or so down to hold it, we could roll our equity from our house to it and borrow the rest from family, so the land would be paid for as far as the bank would be concerned. Which would mean that the equity from the land could make up the 20% down we would need if we were to borrow 250,000

I think we may have located some land that is a viable option. 21 acres that will split into 2 lots. We're gonna look at it when I get home next week and if we like it, we'll make an offer. We called a land development/broker guy to help find land and he owns this piece of land. We're hoping to get the 10-10.5 acres for $45,000-$50,000. It would be April before we could officially take ownership but that would give us time to list our house. #nt

I'll have to look into TigerVPN. I'm a happy Cloak user but want to have another option that I will like.

@kdfrawg The area we want to be in would be about 10-15 minutes from Greenville, NC and about 10-15 minutes from a couple of smaller towns.

@kdfrawg That's what we really want is to be in the country.

@kdfrawg Same here. We were okay with them, even the 2,200 sq.ft minimum because that's about the size house we are planning on building.

2,500 sq.ft would be hard to build and stay within the budget we've set

@kdfrawg The first hint was when the lot owners/builders told the realtor we've been working with that the min sq.ft was 2,500 when the restrictive covenants only specified 2,200 sq.ft. The lot owners said they are in the process of changing the covenants.

@kdfrawg Me too.

@kdfrawg Building the house is going to be stressful enough without having to ask permission for pretty much anything we want to do.

@kdfrawg It did. Doesn't sound like the other lots are gonna work out. The owner of the lot would have to approve our builder, our floor plan, and any changes we wanted to make after the initial approval. And the lots are more expensive than what we saw online.
